Just over two hundred and fifty years ago, the Academy of Fine Arts was born in Carrara.
With two exhibitions at the CARMI Museum in Villa Fabbricotti, which can be visited until 10 October, the city celebrates this passage, which marked the emergence of Carrara as a training center for artists beyond the already widespread workshops.
The central subject of the two exhibitions is Giovanni Antonio Cybei, first Director of the Academy, sculptor, abbot, man of culture and practitioner of painting.
On display is a monographic reconstruction of the path of an artist whose works are preserved in prestigious places such as St. Peter’s Basilica and the Hermitage in St. Petersburg.
