The inauguration of the wonderful art work created by the street artist Eduardo Kobra, took place among the admiration of about 150 participants on the top of the Cima di Gioia quarry.
A mural of about 10 by 11 meters depicting the symbol of the Renaissance, Michelangelo’s David, which the Brazilian artist, recognizes as one of the leading exponents of street art, was painted spray after spray on the imposing marble wall.
An art work that is characterized by great expressiveness, depth of volumes, the liveliness of its colors and of course its location.
The initiative was born from an idea of the Promotion of the Territory Councilor of the Municipality of Massa, Elena Mosti, who in her inaugural speech thanked those who had worked to make this important project become a reality: The Budget Councilor of the Municipality of Massa, Giovanni Rutili, Daniele Mocchi of the Sibyl Eritrean Association and of course the Gualtiero Corsi.
In the words of those present, the hope that the work of Kobra could act as a catalyst for a series of further initiatives aimed at promoting the territory and the quarries, with a view to collaboration between the two Municipalities of Massa and Carrara, Councilor Mosti recalled how that unique and evocative location, the Cima di Gioia quarry, is located on the border between the territories of the two Municipalities.
Maddalena Mengon, Head of Alpitur Tuscany, also took part in the event, proving the interest that this project could generate from a cultural and tourist point of view.
Paula Elias, who brought greetings on behalf of Eduardo Kobra, was also among those present.
In conclusion, our CEO Quinto Ciuffi thanked all those present with a special thought: “It is always difficult to hear a man talking about emotions, a quarry man. Every day, on these mountains, we experience wonder and amazement before a unique and extraordinary landscape, places on which we pour our dedication and passion as workers, but to which we also give our heart, our deepest being … these places have always been within us … every stone, every part of the mountain belongs to us, we are inside these rocks, we are in the breath of the air that surrounds them … and on its wings our thoughts go far away, free and eternal …I hope that on the occasion of this event, each of us, may experience, at least to some extent, these emotions! Thank you
